On the Fringe

March 2, 2019

This winter we are heading west for our outfit inspiration. Western style normally reserved purely for Coachella weekends and fancy dress parties thrown by your less woke friends with a 'Cowboys and Indians' theme is taking over as winters biggest trend.

I've always been a trend lover. Theres a certain stigma behind following the trends with fashion snobs droning on about how 'Its not personal style' and 'You'll look just like everyone else' blah blah blah..

The key to trends is to just find pieces you love that embrace the trend but that don't consume your look. You want to wear the trend not let the trend wear you (whatever that means). Like the boots: subtle snake print and cowgirl boot shaped but not overpoweringly western like you're 2010 Miley Cyrus in 'The Last Song'.

This skirt by Loavies is a slightly less subtle ode to the trend, the fringe black leather adds serious drama and 'extra' vibes to an outfit and photographs like a dream. I can't walk in this skirt without having that Naomi Campbell Victoria Secret opening walk playing in my head. (If you have been living under a rock here it is: Twitter

My bodysuit is also by Loavies and adds a lacey feminine element.

Pairing a trend with the pieces you wear most blends it with your natural style so that no one can accuse you of 'simply following the trends'. You guys are probably bored of this trench coat by now I got it last year, it was part of the limited addition Peace and Love for Selfridges collection and I have worn it half to death.

I've also added my vintage Fendi and my personalised Monica Vinader bracelet to the look. It wouldn't be a Life By Lex outfit without them! I've linked them below and you can also find them in my all time favourites section on the Life By Lex homepage.
