Autumn Trend Report: Mixing Textures

September 14, 2017

Autumn is here! It's cold, grey and storm Aileen is blew a tree branch into my slightly tipsy face last night. In celebration I'm starting an Autumn Trends series documenting how my style adapts to the colder months and I'll be talking about all my favourite trends for A/W 2017

Today I'm focusing on a trend that's more transitional: texture mixing. Always a winner for transitional outfits is taking a summer outfit and just putting a thick knit cardigan over it. I love wearing my summer floral dresses with a knit and some thigh high boots!

However when I get bored of wearing my summer dresses I tend to cut prints from my autumn winter outfits, so to add a little interest mixing textures is my go to. Here I've paired a silk cami with lace, a chunky knit cardigan, courdory baker boy hat and snake print ankle boots, and for good measure I added a silk scarf with a subtle print tied to my bag.

Mixing textures is possibly the easiest way to layer an autumnal outfit, and the effortless approach is very Parisian chic which is fast becoming my style inspiration for the cooler seasons.

There's something about putting on a silk cami and a knit cardigan that awakens the hot chocolate loving, Halloween enthusiast in me. I'm finally ready to get cosy and let storm Aileen hit me with a branch a couple more times.
